Background on this Clock

This is a Danish Bornholm Clock. Of the Baroque period, this clock would have been built between 1740-50 and 1800. The Danish Bornholm clocks were made in Bornholm after a Dutch Ship foundered off it's coast. The Arboe brothers, makers of spinning wheels, were the first makers when they were called aboard the ship to clean the clocks. These clocks have long straight sides and glass windows that allow you to see the working of the movement. The works is signed with the name F Schmidt Oxbüll. It has a metal face with an hour hand and chime on the hour.
